My Story
Hi I’m Susan and I’m the founder and owner of Lifting Women Over 40. I’m a 44 year old mom, child of God, certified fitness trainer and nutrition coach.
Fitness has been always been at the centre of my life and I‘ve been lifting weights from the time I was 26, just 8 weeks after I had a C-section.
Apart from the baby weight that I gained and shed years ago, I have been pretty fit most of my life.
However, as they say, life happens and comes at you fast. A couple of years ago, I went through a traumatic experience that changed my life and fitness journey. I went from being fit and lean to being overweight and barely active.

However, as they say, life happens and comes at you fast. A couple of years ago, I went through a traumatic experience that changed my life and fitness journey. I went from being fit and lean to being overweight and barely active.
Fast forward to a few years late after I turned 39, I started noticing that besides gaining even more weight every time I blinked, other things on my body were also changing.
My gut health wasn’t the same, my midsection was thicker, I experienced body pains, insomnia and constant mood swings. It wasn’t until I was 43 that I learned that I was going through what I now know as perimenopause.

Still Perimenopause
After researching the topic, I decided to change my life and go back to lifting weights.
I’m still on that journey and I’m happy to say that at this stage of my life the experience has been amazing. I feel better, I look better and understand the journey I’m on.
I also realise that most of the time we get fitness advice from people who have never walked the path we want to take. I feel called to walk alongside women over 40 in their fitness journey.
I may only be a few steps ahead of you, but the road is familiar and I know what works and what doesn’t. I’ve combined science and personal experience to help you achieve the best results for your body. Book your free consultation today.
